We need to upgrade succbone to become a "full" harness for running repeatable experiments on vacuum quality.

Requirements

  • Output to control the roughing pump
  • 2x output to simulate button presses
  • 2x output to simulate two levels of the broken pirani gauge
  • No additional inputs needed, unless we want to monitor additional status from the evac controller

so in total >= 5x relay output.

~@llb~ @q3k and I briefly discussed to also have the succbone read, log and act upon temperature probes attached to the diffusion pump. Not the binary >= 60° the SEM is relying on, but rather some somewhat accurate (or at least stable) temperature sensors (K-Type? TMP101?) that would tell us

  • diffusion pump has turned on (> 40°)
  • diffusion pump is in a safe zone (< 200°?)
  • diffusion pump is in normal operating zone (oil-boiling-point-equivalent-if-measured-on-the-outside < x << oil-flash-point-equivalent-if-measured-on-the-outside)
  • diffusion pump is outside normal operating zone (> oil-flash-point-measured-on-the-outside)
  • GET OUT NOW LEAVE CHILDREN BEHIND (> oil flash point, but actually measured on the outside)

It might then, for example, also e-stop the diffusion pump or at least emit a very clear signal that someone should do that.
